RSE
Relationship and sex education is something that all pupils in Wales study; it is a compulsory element of education. In RSE, pupils learn about:
- Relationships and Identity
- Sexual Health and Well-being
- Empowerment, Safety, and Respect
These three strands that are set out by the Welsh Government enable us at Cardiff West CHS to create a curriculum that aligns with our pupils' needs, ensuring that they make meaningful connections to real-life contexts for learning across various subjects.
Throughout the three learning strands, the RSE curriculum content in Cardiff West CHS is inclusive and representative of diversity. Pupils here have lessons that enhance their awareness and understanding of different identities, perspectives, values, and a wide spectrum of relationships, genders, and sexualities, including LGBTQ+ experiences.
Furthermore, the importance of understanding rights and equity is woven into all strands, emphasising a rights-based approach to learning and embedding these principles into our overall educational experience.
