Wellbeing
CARDIFF WEST COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL IS COMMITTED TO ENSURING ALL STUDENTS FEEL SAFE AT SCHOOL. WE WORK ACTIVELY TO PREVENT ANY BEHAVIOUR THAT IS DEEMED AS BULLYING.
Cardiff West Community High School takes bullying very seriously. We do not tolerate bullying behaviour of any kind.
We have developed a safe and supportive environment in which all learners can feel secure, and we encourage all learners to tell an adult if they are being bullied. Learners, parents and carers should understand that reporting bullying immediately is essential and should be assured that the school will support them fully when bullying is reported.
Bullying is the deliberate and repeated act of threatening, intimidating, humiliating or otherwise causing distress to a person.
Bullying includes being teased about race, religion, culture, disability, social class, gender, sexuality, personal differences, performance at school or any other matter.
If your child is being bullied in person, on their mobile or on the internet, then tell someone.
Who to tell:
-
If someone's actions in school or outside of school are impacting on the safety or wellbeing of a child in school, then please inform a member of staff. Tell your child's Form Tutor, Learning and Ethos Officer or Progress Leader
-
If someone is threatening or malicious online, then inform the police, as you would if they did so in person.
Cyber-bullying
Cyber-bullying is the use of ICT to deliberately and repeatedly cause distress to somebody.
Below is some advice for your child to prevent cyberbullying:
-
Don't give out your phone number or social media account details to people you don't know well.
-
Think carefully about any photos you post online.
-
Take control of your social media accounts, review the privacy settings regularly, and restrict who can see your profile .
-
If someone upsets you via text or social media, then don't retaliate; remember, once you post something online it is there forever. Save the message or take a screenshot as evidence and report to an adult.
